For the last few posts, I have discussed the options for breast augmentation. In this post , I will present a few cases of women who have undergone breast augmentation. Each woman selected a different combination of choices to obtain the size and shape that she desired.
Case 1
The first patient is a 26 year old woman who has had no children. She wanted more cleavage and more fullness on top as well as more roundness on the sides of her chest. She selected a round saline breast implant. Because of her lack of breast tissue, she decided to have the implant placed under the muscle. She selected a peri-areolar incision.
The front view of the before and after pictures shows that she has more cleavage and has more fullness on the sides and top of her breasts. Although she selected round saline breast implants, this patient still was able to have a natural breast slope and breast appearance.
Case 2
The second patient is a 34 year old woman who wanted more fullness and better shape. One of her major concerns was breast implant rippling. She selected silicone gel implants to minimize the chances of post-operative rippling. She had the implants placed under the muscle and selected an inframammary incision.
She was able to have the size and shape she desired. She had no rippling post-operatively. She had her implants placed under the muscle. This option gave her more fullness on top but she still had a slope to her breast.
Case 3
The third patient is a 36 year old woman with 3 children. From breast feeding she developed slight breast droop. She wanted round full perky breasts. She did not want to have a breast lift. Because her breast droop was minimal, she selected an implant placed in front of the muscle. To minimize the chances of rippling a silicone gel implant was used. She chose a peri-areolar incision.
Deciding to go in front of the muscle has given this patient rounder breasts with less of a slope. She also was able to get firmer breasts without having to have a breast lift.
If you are considering breast augmentation remember
The options including
- Implant Size
- Implant Shape
- Implant Placement (in front or behind the pectoralis muscle)
- Incision Location
should be thoroughly discussed before your breast augmentation surgery. The selection of each of these options will allow you to get the individualized size, shape and proportion you desire.
