Arm liposuction can effectively remove fat deposits.Dr. Galumbeck has found that laser liposuction is particularly effective to sculpt the upper arm. Through a small incisions in the elbow crease, excess fat can be permanently removed, for a youthful, toned appearance and more shapely upper arms. Candidates for liposuction are men and women who have a small to medium amount of fat in their arms and who have good skin tone. Some patients ask Dr. Galumbeck for his solution for loose, saggy skin of the upper arms. The excess skin may be the result of aging. The most extreme examples of “batwings” often follow extreme weight loss, particularly common after bariatric surgery. The skin has lost its elasticity, and like a deflated balloon, the lax skin is slack and sagging. The only tightening procedure for large amounts of excess skin is an arm lift, or brachioplasty. This is a common procedure for Dr. Galumbeck to perform. The woman shown above had excess fat deposits in her upper arm. Despite diet and exercise, she was unable to improve the shape of her arms. Performing laser liposuction under intravenous sedation, Dr. Galumbeck was able to permanently remove the fat from her upper arm, giving the patient better definition and shape. As in the first patient, this woman also was unhappy with the appearance of her arm. Laser liposuction was employed to sculpt her upper arm, giving her upper arms better shape and definition.
