Injectables- Botox and Restylane

Injectables: Botox, Restylane and other Dermal Fillers for Facial Rejuvenation

Botox Special $12 per unit

In Virginia Beach and across the nation, more patients choose Botox and other dermal fillers as fewer patients opt for surgical face lifts.

Botox, dermal fillers and fat grafting are the new alternatives that help maintain a youthful face, improving facial wrinkles and facial imperfections and scars with safe, non-surgical solutions that are proven.

At Galumbeck Plastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Matthew Galumbeck, MD is the only one who gives injections. Though all dermal fillers used by him are FDA approved and safe, that a board certified plastic surgeon is taking the time to do the injecting is your extra assurance of value. Botox and Restylane are semi-permanent – Dr. Galumbeck makes every drop count.

He has expert knowledge of facial neuro-muscular structure, and the aesthetic judgment gained from years of surgery. He uses only FDA approved injectables that meet the highest standards for results and safety.

A purified protein used to temporarily relax muscles that can cause lines to form. Botox is classified as a denervating agent. When expertly applied, it paralyzes the nerves, thus smoothing and relaxing the lines and wrinkles caused by dynamic facial muscle movement.

Botox is most often used for cosmetic purposes to correct the vertical brow crease above the bridge of the nose, and to relax the tension that holds crow’s feet.

Best results from a Botox injection are seen within 2-3 days of the injection, and these results gradually diminish until a new treatment is needed in 3-6 months.

Botox works well with other injectables; for instance, when applied correctly to areas that have been injected with dermal fillers, Botox calms dynamic muscle action, slowing the rate of absorption of the filler and extending the filler’s effects.

FDA approved, Radiesse is a biocompatible (no allergy testing, naturally absorbed by the body) “next generation” non-permanent filler used to correct facial lines and wrinkles. It is not a hyaluronic acid like other fillers currently in use. According to the maker, it is made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. Radiesse has been approved specifically for correction of the Nasolabial fold (smile line) that becomes more pronounced with age. It is also used as a facial filler to combat facial wasting associated with long-term HIV survivors.

Radiesse fills the sub-dermal creases and stimulates production of collagen to encourage tissue regeneration. Radiess claims to do more than just “temporarily fill-in facial lines and wrinkles.” Results are immediate and, according to Radiesse, last longer than previously available fillers.

Restylane is a hyaluronic filler, and like other Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, it is a synthetic, bio-engineered (not made from human or animal tissue or product) acid based on a naturally occuring acid. Restylane is taking the place of Collagen as a way to restore youthful contours and fullness to facial features. Physicians and patients alike prefer it because no pre-screening is required to assess allergic reaction. Restylane is naturally hypoallergenic.

Restylane gives fuller shape to thin lips and smoother contours to lips with vertical creases. Restylane fills the smile lines or ‘parentheses’ creases at either side of the mouth. For those with small scars or deepset creases such as the vertical line between the brows, it may be used in concert with Botox. The Botox relaxes the forces that are creating the crease, while the Restylane fills the crease, helping it to level with the skin’s surface.

Precise application of Restylane by Dr. Galumbeck takes only a few minutes.

There is no pre-screening, no recovery time, and patients are able to go back to work and social activities immediately. Results will last an average of six months, but some patients report improvements lasting for a year or longer.
